About

A Friendship Built on Music and Books

The Rock Star Autobiography Podcast is hosted by Mr. Overfield and MG, music's biggest fans. Avid readers since childhood, the duo read and discuss every musician's memoir they can find.

Friends since graduate school, they decided to combine their love of music and reading into an unscripted podcast that now reaches thousands of listeners across six continents.

Mr. Overfield is an only child, born and raised in Long Beach, California. The first records he ever bought were "One Thing Leads to Another" by The Fixx and "Modern Love" by David Bowie, both purchased at Target. He has been reading his entire life, an activity that has done little besides further isolate him from most people. The first biography of a band he ever read was The Love You Make, about The Beatles.

He has written songs with friends and several unpublished novels, and is hard at work on his podcast This Crime Has Opened My Eyes.

MG is a native Angelena who grew up fifteen minutes away from Downtown Los Angeles. Preferring her own company to that of others, she spent most of her childhood reading and listening to music alone, leading her father to a real concern that she would grow up to be anti-social. Her career in arts and culture communications has since proven those fears largely unfounded.

She is currently working on a semi-autobiographical novel, and continuing her lifelong hobbies of reading and listening to music, while spending time with a select few.
